Glasses

Erin Jamieson

Our glasses fill with winter’s frost

under a misty setting sun we drink

pixelated stars, a sliver of clouds

that thicken in our throats

as I warned but we

keep drinking

because you’ve

never been satisfied with

being a mere shadow

on this cruel ground

sometimes I long to be

a celestial being, part of inky

night skies with moonlight may

swallow us whole before

we are able to
